Hello Colleagues,

It is difficult to believe that the school year is almost over. What a strange way to end the year. The Released Officers at the CTA Office want to thank each and every one of you for all of the difficult work you have done over the past three months. Moving from in class instruction, to digital platforms, and back to face-to-face instruction was certainly not how we anticipated the last part of the school year looking. You have all handled these changes with resilience and professionalism. Thank you.

As we head into the summer, it is with a sense of uncertainty. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we do not yet know what September will look like for schools. It is possible that we will see a hybrid teaching and learning model in place. We know that you will tackle any new complexities in the same way that you have tackled the past three months – with the well-being of students and colleagues at the forefront of all you do.

Since this school year has brought about much stress and concern in your lives, please ensure you take time for yourselves over the summer break. Staycations will be important to rejuvenate yourselves prior to preparing for the start of the next school year.

Your CTA Released Officers will continue to watch for any September back to school plans that are announced by the Provincial Health Officer and the Ministry of Education. We will be available in the CTA office until July 10 and the office will reopen on August 31. Updates will be sent to all members as new information becomes available.

Again, we want to thank you all for everything you have done to ensure the successful completion of this school year. Enjoy your well-earned summer break.

In Solidarity,

Ed, Danielle, and Reid
